The Teachers Training College, Silchar is a Govt. College which provides the course on graduate teachers training programme (Bachelor of education i.e. B.Ed.). The institute is affiliated under the Assam University, SIlchar (A Central University) under University Act of 1989.
The first class of B.T. College styled as Teachers’ Training College was started in 1960 and it was the first college of such kind in the Barak Valley of that time. At first it was affiliated to the Gauhati University then after with the start of Assam University its affiliation also got changed.

Teachers’ Training College is situated in the middle of the town and it can be reached very easily from any part of the town by bus, auto rickshaw, rickshaw etc.

Teachers’ Training College, Silchar the premier college of Teacher Education in the Southern Assam has completed a glorious 50 years service to the community since its inception in 1960. In spite of its limitation and difficulties, the college has produced thousands of well-trained teachers.

The college has been able to train and gear up the budding teachers to face the challenges of the emerging society and thwart such challenges by dint of the sincere services rendered by all concerned.
I, on behalf of the college, express my heartiest thanks and gratitude to all the stakeholders of the college – both past and present, for their invaluable services that enabled the college to occupy a unique position in the scenario of Teacher – Education of North-East India.
